I think (one of) the moderators (Ven or eZtreme) or the admin will soon post a topic/thread about the new services....

agree with the above poster
I can deal w/ ads, but not when it blocks the content of my site. If forcing ads please let me place them myself so my site still looks ok. |

it took me by surprise last night also
but after reading THIS
it does make sense
personally i think we would all like to see no ads or have control on how the ads would be placed
*however* of all the types of advertising ive seen done on various host/boards * these are realatively easy on the user * it appears as a drop add on the page and can be removed by clickig the little 'x'
not a bad comprimise _________________

The pages doesn't only get their design messed up, they also take twice as long time to load.
Some javascript hacking might work to fix the design but the extra loadingtime won't go away
Guess i'll have to find a new host.

Posted: 19.08.06 01:54 Post subject: The Google banner ad! |
|
|
|
I used to like funpic.org much and kept uploading pictures. Now, I don't even want to open my own funpic.org gallery! How can my visitors even want to visit the gallery if I don't even want to?!
My suggestions:
I know nothing is really for free. Funpic.org needs a way to generate money to maintain free hosting for everyone. So, if funpic.org really wants to put ads on, I don't think the Google ad banner on the side is attracting more members to funpic.org. Eventually, members will leave to find other hosting services without that vertical ad banner on the side of every page.
If funpic.org really wants to put ads on, how about putting a text link to funpic.org somewhere at the bottom of the main page of the gallery instead?
I heard from Coppermine gallery users that the Google ads on gallery do not really show revenue generated ads. But, if you really want to put the ads on members' galleries, maybe put it on the bottom of the gallery because the vertical banner on the side covers up the gallery's picture and it's really annoying to my site's visitors!
I would prefer funpic.org to ask members to put a logo or text link back to funpic.org. I would do that because it's courtesy to acknowledge who has provided the gallery hosting.
Please consider. Thank you. |
