Another hosting option is Awardspace.com - if you don't mind being constantly hassled about upgrading your account and encountering random 500 errors, as well as ads instead of 404 pages. IMO, Funpic still beats that. _________________ http://jefftheman45.funpic.org

Yippey, thanks to the ads all of my RSS-feeds stopped working....
Have only found one rss-reader that ignores the script-tags, the 10 other call it "invalid xml".
I don't think my readers are willing to change rss-reader just for my site |

I know nothing is really for free. Funpic.org needs a way to generate money to maintain free hosting for everyone. So, if funpic.org really wants to put ads on, I don't think the Google ad banner on the side is attracting more members to funpic.org. Eventually, members will leave to find other hosting services without that vertical ad banner on the side of every page.
If funpic.org really wants to put ads on, how about putting a text link to funpic.org somewhere at the bottom of the main page of the gallery instead?
I heard from Coppermine gallery users that the Google ads on gallery do not really show revenue generated ads. But, if you really want to put the ads on members' galleries, maybe put it on the bottom of the gallery because the vertical banner on the side covers up the gallery's picture and it's really annoying to my site's visitors! |
Horizontal ads? Much better than vertical ones.. I don't mind the ads so much, but if they were smaller and ( if you were using frames/iframes) make it so they don't open up in all frames, cause that's rather annoying.
Also what bugs me is that when I close an ad it makes the page stop loading if it hasn't finished, maybe just the images--not sure. So I always have to refresh it. Although that may just be a problem for dial-up users and there's no harm in waiting for the page to finish loading first, but eh..it'd just be nice if that could be fixed somehow.
It'd be even better if the ads could be made into a smaller banner (small enough to not mess up pages, like say..200x50) that maybe rotates ads, using javascript or something, and that we could put it wherever we'd like on our sites, maybe on just a main page or someplace. I'm sure a lot of members could tolerate this much much better.
...but it's just a wild, out-there idea. |

one of the ads crashes my browser (I use IE - that's probably my main problem) when I visit my site. I had an old account that was erased and I came here for the "No ads" reason. Please remove them because they are annoying. |
