I use to use flash all the time back in the day ... ver3. Now that I've moved away from animating as I'm now too worried about money and keeping a roof over my head, I haven't been able to get back into the scripting and such.
So here' s my cry to all you animators/scripters out there who mess with FlashMX or Swish. POST & TOAST! I'd love to converse about programming and animating in flash.
check out the site so far. It's my portfolio in the making www.aquadynelabs.com. Right now it's just info but I'm slowly intergrating that into my new site (which will be avail for beta testing as of 2005).

hi aquadynelabs. Flash has changed quite a bit since version 5, let alone version 3. Personally, I have never even got my hands on a copy of ver. 3 before.
Flash MX and MX 2004 now use ActionScript 1.0 or 2.0.
It now supports XML and sockets. Sending data in and out of flash is a lot more easier.
If you are new to ActionScript, I suggest using Flash MX rather than MX 2004 because in MX 2004 they took out Basic Mode and only Expert Mode remains for the ActionScript panel. If you are new to the MX series, that's not good news for you. Personally I like Basic Mode, but I'm use to using Expert now. Basic will have all the functions in front of you, whereas expert you must type everything with only color codes as a guide.
Hope this helps. More information can always be obtained at the Macromedia (http://www.macromedia.com) website
